Key Features to Look for in an Electronic Drum Set
- Pad Material: The type of pad material used in an electronic drum set can greatly affect its feel and durability. Many drum sets use rubber or mesh heads, which offer a realistic feel and are relatively durable. Some high-end models use mylar heads, which provide a more accurate rebound and improved sensitivity.
- Cymbals: The cymbals on an electronic drum set can vary greatly in terms of their feel, size, and sensitivity. Make sure to choose a set with cymbals that you are comfortable playing and that respond accurately to your touch.
- Drum Module: The drum module is the brain of the electronic drum set, and it’s what allows you to produce a wide variety of sounds. Make sure to choose a drum module that offers a good selection of sounds and that is easy to use.
- Trigger Sensitivity: The trigger sensitivity of an electronic drum set is important because it affects how accurately the set responds to your playing. Make sure to choose a set with triggers that are sensitive enough to respond to your touch, but not so sensitive that they trigger unnecessarily.
- Number of Pads: The number of pads in an electronic drum set can vary greatly, and it’s important to choose a set that offers the number of pads you need to play the style of music you’re interested in.
- Size and Portability: The size and portability of an electronic drum set are important factors to consider, especially if you plan to take your set to gigs or to practice on the go. Make sure to choose a set that is easy to transport and that will fit in your space.
- Price: Finally, consider the price of the electronic drum set. You can find options at a range of price points, so make sure you choose one that fits within your budget.
